sundayhoursSunday hours will resume September 8

Thank you to the Board of County Commissioners who approved the FY14 budget which includes sufficient funding to open Lexington Park once again on Sundays, from 1-5 pm.  The Sunday hours will resume September 8.

Thank you to the Board of Library Trustees and the County Commissioners for recognizing the importance of having a library open on Sunday and providing the necessary funding to make it happen. St. Mary's County will once again be the only library in Southern Maryland to provide Sunday hours.

information desk at Leonardtown
With a little bit of shifting and some new shelves, Leonardtown Library has a fresh, new look. New, lower book shelves have replaced the old book shelves where the new books were displayed and then moved to the adult-side of the information desk, opening up the space and view.  The Children's Desk was combined with the new Information Desk which freed up more space.

members of church working
Thanks to the Patuxent Presbyterian Church Garden Club, the front beds of the Leonardtown Library are looking better than ever.  Members of the Church weeded and edged the beds and planted new shrubs as part of the Church's Servant Sunday program.  The plants were donated by Wentworth's Nursery and several church members.

LexiNeighborLexington Park creates neighborhoods of picture books

To help children and their parents and caregivers find the picture books they are looking for quickly and easily, it was decided to arrange the picture books at Lexington Park into neighborhoods or categories.  These neighborhoods were determined on the most commonly requested topics: favorite characters; classic tales, learning concepts, celebrations, rhymes and songs, things that go, pets/farm; nature, stories, and growing up.  If you need help locating a neighborhood or selecting a book, ask a librarian.  Let us know how you like the new neighborhoods.
