You spoke...we listened!
Each month your Director, Kathleen Reif, will address
comments made on the Customer Survey conducted in April.
Customer comments:
Libraries are noisy. Customers are disruptive. Kids are loud.
Ban cell phones.
Director's Response: Our
staff tries to be proactive in reducing noise and disruptions whether
it is customers talking loudly, cell phones ringing or children being
loud. For example, we have asked customers to turn their phones
to vibrate. We do admit, however, that staff might not be aware
of some disruptive situations; thus, we need your help. Please
inform staff if you are being disturbed so they can immediately
resolve the problem.
I believe that many times, the noise is a result of having so many
people in such confined spaces. The 2007 Library Facilities
and Services Study concluded we need 95,000 SF of library space to
accommodate our county's population. We currently only have
54,000 SF. Our Board of Library Trustees is working with the County
Commissioners to increase library space.
