"Books
were ready for pick-up"
We
recently received this note from a Canadian customer.
Every summer, and sometimes more often if we are
lucky, we make a trip down to St. Mary's County to visit family for
several weeks. We live in Toronto, Canada and our visits are
always greatly anticipated. Because my children are avid
readers, I requested a library card so I could check out books while
we are in the area. We took advantage of the on-line catalogue
to place some books on reserve a few days before we headed south.
Much to my children's delight, the books were available for
pickup before we even reached the U.S. border. My mother (Lillian Himmelheber)
was able to pick them up so they were ready for my daughter when
we walked in the door. We really do appreciate having this
service available and plan to use it again in the future.
Sincerely,
Diane Himmelheber Lood

Children
enjoy summer programs

To date more than 3000 children and teens have signed up and are participating
in our summer reading programs. Thousands have attended the
professional performance series.
Our young users are learning to design computer games, brushing up on
their drawing skills and some even talked with an indentured
servant.
Families have found the Adventure Passport a fun activity, including
out-of-state families. This family from San Diego, California,
while using the Passport happen to stop by the Welcome Center in
Charlotte Hall when Alice Dougherty, an interpreter at Historic St.
Mary's City, was there. The Adventure Passpot program ends
August 31.
