Sue Gibbs provides 37 years of excellent service Sue Gibbs being recognized at BOCC meeting

On June 30, Sue Gibbs, Children's Librarian at Lexington Park, began a new chapter in her life.  After 37 years working with children and helping them discover the joy of reading, Sue has retired.  She recently was recognized by the Board of County Commissioners.

"Sue is a VERY special librarian...she knows children's literature and children!  She saw it as her job to get the books out of the library into the hands of the right child.  We are a stronger and more professional library because of Sue," states Kathleen Reif, Library Director.

Librarian Finds "Going Home" Music

Not being able to locate the music for a particular song, William Short turned to the Charlotte Hall Library staff for help.  He was searching for the music, "Going Home," a song played at President's Reagan's funeral.

Library staff Gail McFadden and Brian Wholers not only found the music but went the extra mile to download it to a CD as well.  When Mr. Short picked the CD up, they discovered the music was for a funeral the next day.  They provided him with ear phones to make sure it was the correct music. It was the song he was searching for.

Mr. Short expressed how this piece of music set the tone and the proper emotion for such an important event and that the family was especially grateful.  The music was for the funeral of John Lancaster.
