Greetings! 

 

Druing this month of thanksgiving, the Board of Library Trustees and the library staff would like to thank each of you, our valued customers, for supporting your library and making this past year so great.  We have experienced record-breaking numbers of people walking through our doors and items borrowed. 

 

Just a reminder Lexington Park Library will be closed Friday morning, Nov. 21,  9:00-1:00 for staff training.  Charlotte Hall and Leonardtown will be open to serve you.

 

Have you seen the Blackistone Lighthouse print we are raffling?  Be sure to stop by and purchase your chance.  Raffle ends Dec. 15.  Proceeds support the Technology Fund.

 

 

Know your county? Contest

Win $100 gift certificate from Café des Artistes 

 

Friends of St. Mary's County Library (FOL) is sponsoring a Know Your County? Contest through Nov. 10.  Identy eleven photographs of county historic sites and be entered for a drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Café des Artistes.  Photographs posted at each branch.

 

Become a Friend today.  Basic membership is $15 per year and entitles you to attend the Member's Only! Night at the annual Book Sale which will be March 13-15.  FOL will sponsor a brunch January 17 and a dinner in May.  Applications are available at each branch or can be downloaded.   Application   

 

To date, FOL has donated more than $140,000 to the libraries. 
FOL is a volunteer organization of community members dedicated to helping the St. Mary's County Library system by encouraging public support, promoting library use, and raising funds for the libraries. 

 

 

Technology Fund Update

    

Compliance Corporation donates $4,000 from golf tournament

Tom Herndon from Compliance Corporation recently presented a check in the amount of $4,000 to Alan Dillingham, President of the Board of Library Trustees.  The funds, proceeds from the golf tournament sponsored by Compliance Corporation in September, 

will be used to support The Library's Technology Fund: Phase 2 of the Gates Grant.

Chances are $5 each or 3 for $10 and are available at all three libraries.   

 

Proceeds support The Technology Fund.

St. Mary's County Library Book Cart Drill Team to be in Leonardtown's Veterans' Day Parade

We're back... even better than last year!   Our Book Cart Drill Team will dazzle the crowd again this year as we salute the veterans and our library in Leonardtown's annual Veterans' Day Parade on November 11.  Director Kathleen Reif will lead the cart twirlers through several routines with  the Book Guard following.  Don't miss us!
