Public Technology Assistant - Part Time Position
Lexington Park Library

CLOSING DATE: 8/13/10 

Position         Public Technology Assistant, 15 hours per week

 

Hours             15 hours per week.  Some nights and week-ends, including
Sunday

 

Salary             $10.77 per hour, enrollment in MD State Retirement System, no other benefits

 

Location        Lexington Park Library

 

Nature of Work

  • Troubleshoots computer hardware and software
  • Performs routine computer maintenance.
  • Assists customers of all ages with the technology available in the library: computers, printers, copiers, faxes, self-checkout machine, etc.
  • Assists customers of all ages with the basic features of computer software programs and using online resources.

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both public and staff.
  • Good computer and software skills.
  • Ability to teach others how to use technology.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and navigation of the Internet.
  • Ability to follow directions, responsive to changes, able to work as a member of a team.
  • Good physical strength and stamina. Work requires physical effort in the handling of materials or boxes in non-strenuous work positions up to 30 pounds and/or continual standing or walking 90%+ of the time.

Completed application must be submitted, in person, at the Lexington Park Library.   Applications will be accepted ONLY at the following dates and times: Thursday, July 29, 9-11 am; Tuesday, Aug. 3, 5-7 pm; Saturday, Aug. 7, 9-11 am; Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2-4 pm; and Friday, Aug. 13, 2-4 pm. When you present your application you will meet for approximately 5 minutes with a library manager.
