Tax Information

Federal Tax Forms:

Each branch has some of the basic federal forms (1040, 1040A and 1040EZ) available for pick-up. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is not providing printed copies of any other forms, any instructions or schedules. Please see the Information Desk at any branch for forms and instructions that can be copied on the library machines. Cost: $0.20 per side for black/white

Information on filing External Link

Visit ID Verify external link only if you received an IRS 5071C letter. The IRS needs more information from you to process your tax return accurately. You will be asked a series of questions about your identity and tax return history. The IRS does not request such information via email, nor will the IRS call a taxpayer directly to ask this information without you receiving a letter first. The letter number can be found in the upper corner of the page.

 

Maryland Tax Forms:

The branches have received some of the Maryland income tax forms and booklets. Forms and filing information are available at Maryland forms and tax information External Link

 

Free Tax Help:

Lifestyles of Maryland Foundation, Inc External Link will provide free IRS-certified tax return preparation assistance at the libraries for households with income of $53,000 or less. Appointment is necessary. Schedule an appointment by calling 1-866-293-0623.

What to bring:

  • Photo identification for tax filers
  • Social Security Card and/or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) cards for everyone on the return
  • W-2, 1099 and any other income forms
  • Documentation for deductions & tax credits
  • Proof of bank account, routing numbers and account numbers for Direct Deposit (if applicable)
  • A copy of last year’s federal and state returns (if applicable)

AARP Tax-Aide Program will provide free tax preparation and electronic filing for low-to-middle income taxpayers with special attention to those ages 60 and older.
