From Dr. Meena Brewster, Health Officer for St. Mary’s County:
“Our county, like many others across the U.S., is in the grips of a major public health crisis. Opioid drugs such as fentanyl, heroin, and prescription pain pills are causing many of our neighbors to overdose and die. These and other opioid drugs are very addictive. If you or someone you know is using opioid drugs without a prescription or may have an addiction to opioid drugs, please get help. Treatment works and is available. You can get your life back. People can and do recover from this illness. To learn more about this issue and available treatment resources, please go to www.smchd.org/opioid or call the St. Mary’s County Health Department at 301-475-4330.”
