POSITION: Public Technology Assistant, Part-time
LOCATION: Lexington Park Library
HOURS: 21 hours per week: Mondays, 12 - 8 p.m.; Wednesdays, 12 - 5 p.m.; Thursdays, 12 - 5 p.m.; Sundays, 1 - 5 p.m. (Sunday is paid at 1.25x regular pay)
SALARY: Grade 1: $19.43/hour
BENEFITS: 42 hours PTO, 7% mandatory retirement contribution; Optional: credit union, 457 plan; AFLAC
REQUISITES:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 1 year customer service experience preferred
- General knowledge of library services desirable
- Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and navigation of the Internet
- Basic knowledge of network components and skills
- Familiarity with Active Directory, preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with both public and staff.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to solve problems, negotiate situations and issues, make independent judgments and decisions
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Provides friendly, high quality customer service to Library customers under the direction of an Assistant Branch Manager or Branch Manager. Performs a variety of technology related duties, such as assisting staff and customers with computer questions, troubleshooting computer hardware and software, and maintaining the network.
- Provides technology instruction one-on-one or within a classroom
- Assists staff and customers with: Computer, eBook, email, and internet questions; Self-checkout machine, copier, fax machine, and printer; Use of Library resources and databases; Information on Library activities, facilities, and services
- Maintains and troubleshoots the network, such as internal LAN connectivity issues, adding and removing computers, changing passwords, and running cable
- Troubleshoots hardware and software issues
- Performs routine computer maintenance, such as performing software updates, correcting minor network issues, and replacing computer hardware components
