As of August 31, our statewide interlibrary loan service (Marina) has moved to a new and improved platform, SHAREit! If you have questions about using SHAREit, please contact your Library.
Marina is an online catalog of materials owned by all the public libraries in Maryland. You can search for and request many of these items yourself, or a Library staff member can assist. Marina requests often come within 7-10 business days, but some take longer to arrive.
Please note, there may be a 15 to 30 minute Marina service interruption weekly on Tuesday evenings at 10 p.m. or shortly thereafter.
Marina Guidelines
- Before searching Marina, please search the Library catalog. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can search Marina and place a request.
- You will need your library card number to access Marina.
- You are limited to placing three (3) Marina requests per business day. If you place more requests, they may be cancelled.
- You are limited to fifty (50) holds at any time on your library account. This includes local and Marina requests.
- Some items may not be loaned by libraries outside Southern Maryland. These items may include media like CDs and DVDs, entire magazine issues, reference materials, and bestsellers.
- Items received through Marina may be renewed one time if permitted by the owning library.
- If no results are found from your search of Marina, contact information staff at your Library location with as much information about the title as possible. We will request the materials from a library outside Maryland if possible.
Logging In
When logging in, the system will ask you to choose if you are a Patron or Staff. Select Patron, then enter your Library card number.
Check the status of a Marina request
- Log in to Marina
- Select “Your Account.”
- Select “Items from Other Libraries” to see a list of your Marina requests. Note: Marina requests placed prior to August 31 will not appear in this list.
- From here, you can see the status of each request — for example, whether it’s still being located on its way to your library, or ready for pickup.
