Makerspace Volunteers

Do you have crafting experience and enjoy helping people create their own projects? Are you open to learning new technology? The Makerspaces at Leonardtown and Lexington Park Libraries offer the community a creative space for hand crafting, technology assisted crafting, and project creation. Due to staffing limitations, each Makerspace is currently open for only three hours daily, so we’re looking for adult volunteers to help us expand our open hours. Volunteers will work in pairs to directly assist drop-in customers with the Makerspace equipment during a regular, weekly shift at one of the Makerspaces.

The Makerspaces have similar equipment, but some pieces are unique to each location. Review the Leonardtown Makerspace page and the Lexington Park Makerspace page to see all that we offer! Experience with at least some of the equipment is preferred, but we’ll provide training and support for all Makerspace equipment to get you up to speed on pieces you’re unfamiliar with. Please note: volunteers will not be working directly with the 3D printers, so this experience is not necessary.

Volunteers need to be comfortable working directly with people of all ages, so customer service or education experience is a plus.
