The Makerspace at Lexington Park Library is a flexible, participatory learning environment where Makers can utilize a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, gain access to technology to encourage entrepreneurship, and become more creative and empowered with new skills. St. Mary’s County Library wants Makers of all sorts to be able to share the space and equipment with one another!

Makerspace Hours
The Makerspace at Lexington Park Library is open:
- Mondays, 5 – 7:30 p.m.
- Tuesdays, 5 – 7:30 p.m.
- Thursdays, 2 – 5 p.m.
- Fridays, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Sundays, 1 – 4 p.m.
Use of the Makerspace
Makers must observe all the Library’s policies in the Makerspace. Additionally, by entering the Makerspace, Makers agree to the additional guidelines and responsibilities listed in the Makerspace Policy.
Available Equipment
Memory Lab 36″ Large Format Printer Button Maker Sublimation Printer and Oven
Other Equipment
- Desktop Laminator (pouches are available in 11″ x 17″, 8.5″ x 11″, and 4″ x 6″)
- Innofans Beginner Pottery Wheels designed with kids in mind. Offers one-button power operation and speed control suitable for beginners. Crayola air dry clay can be used with the wheel so that no kiln is necessary.
- ChompSaw: a cardboard cutting power tool designed to be safe for children. This machine can cut, score, and hole punch cardboard while keeping fingers, hair, and clothes safe.
How much does this cost?
Desktop Laminating: $0.50 per laminating pouch used
Large Format Printing: $4 per foot
Sublimation Printing: $0.50 per page
Pricing for various items is still being determined and this section will be updated accordingly. We welcome donations for free services like the button maker so that we can continue to purchase materials for the Makerspace.

Thinking of You: Card Crafting Drop-in Session
Why not remind someone special in your life how much they mean to you, just because? Drop-in for some sentimental crafting and gift something totally unique to a loved one--or yourself!
A range of crafting materials will be provided, including the Cricut die-cutting machine. Stay for just a little while or hang out for hours, enjoy the atmosphere and leave with a lovely card made by you!
Common Thread
Whether you have been stitching for years, or you just want to learn, join fellow crafters who love all things fabric and fiber. Register to receive email/text reminders. Walk-in's welcome!
Open to knitters, crocheters, quilters, embroiderers, cross-stitchers, and any other kind of needleworkers. Bring your current project, mingle with like-minded makers, and swap patterns, ideas, and tips. Basic supplies available, if needed. All skill levels welcome. No registration required.
Art Corner Exploration and Art Supply Swap
The Lexington Park Makerspace has a new art corner! Do you feel the urge to create, but don't feel ready to commit to a giant project? Check out the Makerspace's new Art Corner!
Art Corner Exploration
You'll find a variety of art supplies you can use anytime the Makerspace is open. Make a bookmark or tiny painting with watercolor. Create a collage, test out your sketching skills, or even try your hand at tempera paint sticks.
Art Supply Swap
If you have any art supplies you want to part with, bring them along for a community craft supply swap that will take place during the program.
Please no broken/unusable items. Please limit supplies to the following:
- Paint
- Brushes
- Palettes
- Art Paper
- Canvases
- Drawing supplies
This is our first art supply swap so please be patient with us as we figure out logistics. Anything not swapped or returned to the original owner may be added to the art corner for future customer use.

Learn how to preserve your harvest bounty and make shelf-stable foods
In this hands-on workshop, Dr. Deon Littles and Dr. Shauna Henley, experts from the University of Maryland Extension, will introduce the basics of canning and walk participants through the process of canning their own jar of food to take home!
Please note: This class is offered twice - Monday, August 17th and Saturday, August 22nd. Please only register for one.
