The Makerspace at Leonardtown Library is a flexible, participatory learning environment where Makers can utilize a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, gain access to technology to encourage entrepreneurship, and become more creative and empowered with new skills. St. Mary’s County Library wants Makers of all sorts to be able to share the space and equipment with one another!

Makerspace Hours
The Makerspace at Leonardtown Library is open:
- Mondays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Tuesdays, 2 – 5 p.m.
- Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Thursdays, 5 – 7:30 p.m.
- Fridays, 1 – 4 p.m.
- Saturdays, 1 – 4 p.m.
Use of the Makerspace
Makers must observe all the Library’s policies in the Makerspace. Additionally, by entering the Makerspace, Makers agree to the additional guidelines and responsibilities listed in the Makerspace Policy.

How much does this cost?
Large Format Laminating: $2 per foot
Desktop Laminating: $0.50 per laminating pouch used
Large Format Printing: $4 per foot
We don’t charge for use of other equipment or tools. We welcome donations for services like the 3D printers so that we can continue to purchase materials for the Makerspace.
Events in the Makerspace
Cricut Crafts: Painting with Vinyl Stencils
Unlock your crafting potential by learning how to use the Cricut cutting machine to create a custom painted sign using vinyl stencils!
This introductory class will cover how to use the Cricut Maker 3, an electronic die-cutting machine, to create clean and precise cuts on adhesive vinyl. You'll create a stencil to use for painting a wooden sign board to take home with you. Participants will also learn the basics of Cricut Design Space, the software used to create endlessly customizable designs. No experience necessary, all materials provided.
Everyone is welcome to visit the Leonardtown Library Makerspace during open hours to use the Cricut to create whatever you can imagine! Customers need to have their own Cricut Design Space online account and bring their own material, but we have all the equipment and tools you'll need! Note for minors: Teenagers are welcome in our Makerspace classes! Customers aged 14+ can use the Makerspace without a guardian present; younger customers need an adult present at all times while visiting the Makerspace.

We'll provide the paper, glue, stickers, and washi tape! Make sure you can access the photos you want so that we can print them off here at the library!

Learn the basics of threading and operating a sewing machine to make your own reusable, terry lined cleaning cloth!
No experience needed and all materials provided.
Classes are a way to get started but are not required before using our sewing machines. Visit our Makerspace during open hours to use one of the sewing machines available for self-guided customer use. We have the sewing machines and all the tools you'll need, just bring your own material and pattern!

The Book Worm Club: A Kid's Book Club
Do you like reading? Do you like talking about what books you're reading with people who love reading as much as you do? Do you like crafts and book related activities? Join us for our kids book club!
Participants can bring in and discuss whatever they're reading, whether it's novels, graphic novels, nonfiction books, audiobooks, etc., participate in a craft, and enjoy refreshments with peers.
