Makerspace at Lexington Park Library

The Makerspace at Lexington Park Library is a flexible, participatory learning environment where Makers can utilize a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, gain access to technology to encourage entrepreneurship, and become more creative and empowered with new skills. St. Mary’s County Library wants Makers of all sorts to be able to share the space and equipment with one another!

Makerspace Hours

The Makerspace at Lexington Park Library is open:

  • Mondays, 5 – 7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays, 5 – 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays, 2 – 5 p.m.
  • Fridays, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Sundays, 1 – 4 p.m.

Use of the Makerspace

Makers must observe all the Library’s policies in the Makerspace. Additionally, by entering the Makerspace, Makers agree to the additional guidelines and responsibilities listed in the Makerspace Policy.

3D Printers 3D Pens Cricut Cutters and Presses Sewing Stations Glowforge Laser Printer

Memory Lab 36″ Large Format Printer Button Maker Sublimation Printer and Oven

Other Equipment

  • Desktop Laminator (laminate items up to 11″ x 17″)
  • Innofans Beginner Pottery Wheels designed with kids in mind. Offers one-button power operation and speed control suitable for beginners. Crayola air dry clay can be used with the wheel so that no kiln is necessary.
  • ChompSaw: a cardboard cutting power tool designed to be safe for children. This machine can cut, score, and hole punch cardboard while keeping fingers, hair, and clothes safe.

How much does this cost?

Desktop Laminating: $1 per laminating pouch used
Large Format Printing: $4 per foot
Pricing for various items is still being determined and this section will be updated accordingly. We welcome donations for free services like the button maker so that we can continue to purchase materials for the Makerspace.

Art doesn't have to be intimidating, or time consuming. Instead, it can be a chance to explore creativity, the ability to make mistakes, and an opportunity to try something new.

Each session will feature a small art and/or craft project that can be completed in an hour to an hour and a half.
